Expires: 01/01/2012 12:00 AM Chaplain Participates in Western Law Enforcement Summit
Chaplain Ray Fairman recently attended and participated in the Western Regional
Law Enforcement Summit held at the Lifeway Glorieta Conference Center in Glorieta NM.
During the conference our chaplain received instruction in ways to better serve the law enforcement community through financial planning, addressing the grief and loss process, understanding the law enforcement family needs and many other topics. More than 77 police chaplains, their wives and other Christian law enforcement officers and families gathered at Glorieta NM for a three day seminar and retreat. A good deal of time was spent discussing issues faced by many of the officers and families present. Issues such as divorce, domestic abuse, addictive behaviors, the violent loss of a spouse or child, the shooting of a suspect by an officer, officer involved in a fatal traffic accident or an officer responding to a call involving a relative or immediate family member.
Attendees also engaged in corporate non-denominational worship events and evening networking and fellowship times. Many new contacts and friendships were made and several old relationships renewed.
Chaplain Fairman also attended a session on Critical Incident Stress Management and was allowed to register for a future training certification course to be taught by the ICISF in September to be held at the Billy Graham Training Center in Asheville NC.
