Expires: 01/01/2012 12:00 AM Chaplain Supports USMC Toys For Tots 2006
Our Winterville Chaplain, Ray Fairman, also has some strong ties to the US Marine Corps. He is a retired Chief Warrant Officer-4 and has been working throughout the Christmas season with the Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots campaign for decades. This year, between Thanksgiving and Dec 22 when the campaign officially ended, Chaplain Fairman drove over 1550 miles in his Dodge Ram pick-up and collected over 2438 toys for the children of Northeast GA who otherwise might not have had such a great Christmas.
All totaled the Marines of NE GA collected and distributed over 21,500 toys which were distributed from the Gainesville area to Greene County to Hart and Elbert and Stephens Habersham Counties and all points in between.
M/Sgt John "Jack" Frost, USMC was the official point of contact for the area and performed commendably. Next year plans are to include the Winterville area as a special donation area in conjunction with the Mayors special Christmas projects.
